About

Hawthorne World, since 1984.

Hawthorne Energy Infrastructure LLC (“HEI”) is owned by Hawthorne World, the net-zero development platform Dr. Ganesan Visvabharathy founded in 1984. Over four decades the platform has developed, built, and restored multifamily, senior living, and commercial assets, with ground-source, solar, and integrated mechanical design in the original specification.

1984

Platform established

This business takes that knowledge to buildings the platform did not build: plant inside facilities that cannot be taken out of service and will not be replaced by their owners. On new construction we participate at design stage, funding and owning the energy infrastructure within the project.

MERU is the completed, certified reference asset. Garden Station and Coco Palms are platform projects in development and are shown on that basis.

Hawthorne Energy Infrastructure does not claim these as its own transactions. They are the delivery record of the platform that owns it.

What we are

A long-duration owner of mechanical and energy infrastructure. We acquire it from asset owners, modernize it, and operate it under agreements measured in decades. Every engagement begins with an assessment and concludes in a document setting out what we own, what we warrant, and what happens if we fall short.

Why the agreement is detailed

Scope, service levels, measurement, remedies, investment obligations, and end-of-term options are written into the agreement at execution, since a term of this length will outlast the people who negotiated it.

Not a contractor or an equipment seller

We are paid on the systems performing over the term, not on what is specified, installed, or delivered.

Scope and control

Systems that cannot be instrumented and reported against stay with the owner. So do operations, staffing, and program decisions, for the whole term.

Assessment

Begin with an assessment of the plant you hold, and what replacing it would take.
